How do I renew my rego?
Your car’s rego lasts for 12 months. When it’s due for renewal the RTA will send you a registration renewal notice. But be careful – even if you don’t receive a renewal notice, you are still responsible for renewing your rego before it expires.
Depending on its age, you can renew the rego of your car, motorcycle or scooter online at myRTA.com or by calling 13 22 13. You can also renew your rego at any motor registry.
To renew your rego online or on the phone you’ll need:
- An e-Safety Check (if required).
- A green slip. The RTA needs your green slip details before you can renew your rego. Most insurers send details to the RTA electronically – simply pay for your green slip before you renew your rego.
- Your billing number (found on the bright yellow strip on your registration renewal notice).
- A valid credit card – the RTA accepts all major credit cards.
